Choosing the right tree
How do I know which tree is right for my yard?
We’ve simplified the process to remove guesswork. Each tree on our website includes:
- Mature height and width
- Sunlight requirements
- Growth rate
- Recommended placement (front yard focal point, privacy screen, shade tree, etc.)
- Ideal Cincinnati growing conditions
If you're unsure, we recommend starting with:
- Available space (width matters most)
- Sun exposure
- Your goal (shade, privacy, ornamental beauty)
If you'd like guidance, visit our How to chose page.
Are your trees suitable for Cincinnati’s climate?
Yes. We carefully select tree varieties that thrive in Cincinnati and the greater Southwest Ohio region (USDA Zone 6).
We prioritize:
- Cold hardiness
- Heat tolerance
- Urban soil adaptability
- Disease resistance
We do not sell trees that struggle in our local climate.
How big are the trees when delivered?
Most of our trees are delivered at a size that provides immediate landscape impact while still allowing strong root establishment.
Typical sizes:
- 5–8 feet tall for ornamental trees
- 6–10 feet tall for evergreen trees
- 15-25 feet tall for shade trees
Exact sizing is listed on each product page.

We will contact you one week before installation to schedule the process.
How do I prepare my yard before planting day?
Before installation, please:
- Call 811 to check if there are utility lines undergound
- Mark the spot where you want your tree to be planted
- Ensure clear access to the planting area
- Remove obstacles like rocks or lawn decor
- Keep pets secured during installation
We’ll confirm all prep steps after your order is placed.
Do I need to be home during installation?
As long as site requirements are met, you DO NOT have to be home.
Site requirements are:
- Call 811 to check utility lines
- Mark the spot where you want your tree to be planted
How long does planting take?
Most installations take 30–60 minutes per tree, depending on soil conditions and access.
Larger trees or tight spaces may take slightly longer.
Do you deliver trees without planting them?
Currently, we focus on delivery with professional planting to ensure proper installation and long-term success.
Correct planting is critical for tree health, and we want every tree to start strong.

Warranty & policies
Do you offer a warranty on your trees?
Yes. We provide a limited one-year replacement guarantee on trees that are
both purchased from and professionally installed by Queen City Trees.
This guarantee applies to the tree itself unless otherwise agreed to in writing. It is non-transferable and valid only for the original purchaser. All sales are final.
Because trees are living organisms, their long-term health depends heavily on proper care after planting.
What is not covered under our warranty?
Our one-year replacement warranty does not apply to tree loss resulting from:
- Failure to provide proper watering and reasonable care
- Severe weather or other natural events (windstorms, flooding, extreme cold/heat,
lightning, etc.) - Insect infestations or plant diseases beyond normal environmental conditions
- Damage caused by Animals (like Deer, pets or other)
- Damage caused by lawn equipment (mowers, trimmers, digging, etc.)
- Damage from lawn chemicals or herbicides
Proper watering is the single most important factor in first-year tree survival.
